Aylesbury Vale Volleyball ClubWebmaster AGM Report 2005I took over running the Vale website from Jem in late November and decided on the following objectives and key performance indicators: Website Objectives:Primary: provide easily accessible club details to attract new members, and timely and accurate club information (sessions/matches/tournaments/results/reports) for existing members. Secondary: provide interesting and/or useful volleyball content. Key Performance Indicators:Visibility: Google top 3 global ranking for keyword search for "volleyball" + any reference to our primary catchment area (Amersham, Aylesbury, Berkhamsted, Buckinghamshire, Bucks, Chesham, Great Missenden, High Wycombe, Leighton Buzzard, Princes Risborough, Thame, Tring, Wendover). Results: 9/13 (of the 4 misses, 3 are in top 10 and 1 in top 20) Accessibility: W3C Strict HTML validation for main pages (home/league/tournaments) so that they can be read by all browsers. Results: 3/3 Information: accurate and timely information on sessions/matches/tournaments/results/reports. Results: 8/10 (there was a bit of a hiatus at the end of the indoor season and the new outdoor venue and final league match/results were not updated until August) Comments:Thanks to: Mandy and Nildram for continued domain registration and hosting, Chris for match reports, and Jem for passing on the website with a simple, easily-maintained design. I have continued with the emphasis on simple functional information (sessions/matches/tournaments/results/reports) rather than style but will happily post pictures if club members supply them. I've tried to add relevant details to enrich the browsing experience, including maps and directions for matches and tournaments, and, more recently, weather forecasts for outdoor sessions and tournaments. There is now a bit more content on training, coaching objectives and team play and a much enlarged links page. Statistics:
Next YearI'm happy to stand for election as Webmaster with the same remit and objectives as this year, and additionally have some plans for updating the website design, still using simple HTML, to look a bit more sophisticated. Nigel |
