Sportspace Berkhamsted - Home Indoor Match Venue

Sportspace Berkhamsted, aka Berkhamsted Sports Centre, is Vale's new home indoor match venue for the 2006/7 season. This should be more accessible for visiting teams than RAF Halton and involve less administration for the Vale committee. There is no need to pay a separate admission charge for the sports hall (as is normally the case at Sportspace Berkhamsted), just mention "volleyball match" at the front desk.

Directions

Sportspace Berkhamsted is visible on the ridge above the northern end of the A4251 Berkhamsted High Street but access is slightly circuitous and if you can see the sports centre you've gone too far! From the A41 it's better to avoid the High Street if possible.

From the North on the A4251 turn right into Durrants Lane and then left at the roundabout into Durrants Road followed by a left into Douglas Gardens at the mini-roundabout (if I remember correctly).

From the A41 leave at the A416 exit labelled as Chesham (but not Berkhamsted) and follow the subsequent signs to Berkhamsted. Follow the A416 down into Berkhamsted and turn left into Charles Street about 200m before the town centre traffic lights. Keep going as Charles Street becomes Shrublands Avenue which becomes Durrant Road and then right into Douglas Gardens at the mini-roundabout. Alternatively if you know the back roads then turn left on the A416 sharp bend (almost straight ahead) onto Shooter's Way and find your own way from there.
