Vixens beaten 3-0 by VK barnet

14 Nov 2007

VK Barnet 3
Vale Vixens 0
25-22; 27-25; 25-20

The Vixens lost 3-0 against a highly skilled and experienced VK Barnet team. This game was an important learning experience in player attitude, confidence, pressure handling and focus for a Vixens team fully of confidence after last weeks 2 hour victory over the Harriers.

The Vixens started strongly and as VK Barnet made defensive errors, they built up an early lead, 15-11. The Vixens were demonstrating control at the net and looked good in defense, picking up every single ball. VK Barnet soon got into their rhythm however and made Vixens work hard for each point. VK Barnet took a slender lead at 21-19 and close out the set to win by 25-22.

The second and third set went the same way as the first with the Vixens unable to take advantage of the chances they worked so hard to get. The second set ended with a run of 8 points from a VK Barnet serve to take the set 27-25 after originally being 3-13 down.

The third and last set was also close but despite Vixens´ best efforts the set and match was won by VK Barnet 25-17.

French Head Coach Nicolas Lasbistes was proud of his team as usual: "Probably today we have not played a very consistent match, but this was because of the good serve and defence from VK Barnet in the second and third sets. In the end we lost with good rallies and challenged one of the best sides in the league, so we have to be happy to finish on a positive performance. We are still improving our strategies games after games. I want to congratulate all my players for all their hard work, commitment and passion during this game!"
